Though we’re now firmly in the Switch era, the 3DS is getting yet another shot in the arm. Two new bundles for the New 2DS XL are on the way, as well as new additions to platform’s Nintendo Selects line.
On June 29, three new titles join the 3DS’ Nintendo Selects lineup. Basically a “greatest hits” line, Nintendo Selects repackages best-selling games, complete with a spiffy red banner, and sells them at a discounted price–$19.99, to be exact. The new games are as follows:
- Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo
- Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
- Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS
That same date in June also sees the release of the first New 2DS XL game bundles. First up is a black and lime green handheld that comes with Mario Kart 7 pre-installed. The other is a white and lavender variant with a pre-installed copy of Tomodachi Life. These bundles don’t have a price as of yet but keep your eyes on Nintendo’s website for future updates.
As the name suggests, the new 2DS XL lacks the 3D effect of its new 3DS counterpart. It sports a lighter, more streamlined form factor and, like the original, boasts greater processing power under the hood. It can also scan amiibo by placing them on the touchscreen. The sixth system in the 3DS family, it originally launched in July 2017.
